Overview
Journey templates are pre-built fundraising and relationship management pipelines that you can import into Vega with a single click. Each template creates everything you need to start tracking prospects, donors, volunteers, or funders through a structured process — including attribute groups, attribute types, attributes, custom forms, insight definitions, and insight mappings.
Once imported, a journey template can be fully customised to suit your organisation. You can add attribute types, change attribute options, adjust insight weights, and modify forms without affecting other journeys or other organisations using the same template.
What a journey template creates
When you import a journey template, Vega creates the following:
Attribute Group — the container for everything in the journey. All attribute types, custom forms, and insights are grouped under this container, making the journey easy to filter and manage.
Attribute Types — the categories of information tracked in the journey. For example, in the Major Donor Journey, attribute types include Prospect Stage, Linkage Rating, Ability Rating, and Stewardship Action.
Attributes — the individual values within each type. For example, Linkage Rating has the values Strong, Moderate, and Weak. Attributes that feed insight scores carry a numeric score value (0–3 in most journeys).
Pipeline Stage — every journey includes one attribute type marked as the pipeline stage tracker. This is the single attribute that shows where a contact sits in the journey. It is set to system-only so it cannot be accidentally edited outside the journey forms.
Journey Touchpoints — date-type attributes marked as touchpoints. These record when key interactions took place and can drive recency-based insight calculations.
Custom Forms — the data-entry forms that appear on a contact's record under the Contact Forms tab. There is one form per stage or activity type. Each form includes the attribute types most relevant to that step in the journey. The Contact Forms are required to record the data within the Journeys tab and preset queries for full tracking and reporting.
Insight Definitions — the calculated scores that summarise how a contact is progressing. Each journey includes between one and six insights. Insights are calculated automatically whenever a form is saved.
Attribute Insight Mappings — the rules that connect attribute types to insight definitions, including the weight each type carries in the calculation.

How to import a journey template
- Go to Admin > Attributes.
- Click the Templates and Forms tab.
- Find the journey you want to import and click Import.
- Vega creates all attribute groups, attribute types, attributes, forms, insights, and mappings automatically.
- If the journey has already been imported for your organisation, the button will show Imported and be disabled.
Once imported, all journey forms will appear on contact records under the Contact Forms tab. Insights will begin calculating as soon as forms are filled in and will be displayed on the right-hand side of the contact and all data can be seen from the Journeys tab.
From Admin > Contact Settings > Custom Form Style you can select how each option within the Contact Forms is displayed, Accordian, Tabs, or Tree.

Customising a journey after import
All imported journey data belongs to your organisation and can be edited freely. Common customisations include:
- Adding new attribute options to an existing attribute type (e.g. adding a new source of identification specific to your organisation)
- Adjusting insight weights to reflect your organisation's priorities
- Adding new attribute types for fields not covered by the template (these will then need to be added to the relevant form)
- Modifying the forms to show or hide fields depending on your workflow
System-level attributes and attribute types (those owned by All) cannot be edited directly. If you need a different set of values, add a new attribute type to the group rather than editing the system one.
