Membership models define how renewal dates are calculated to align with your organisation’s constitution. It’s important to note that renewal behaviour may differ between new members and renewing members.
In Vega, an existing member’s record is used as the basis for renewal, whereas for new members the payment date is used as the starting point.
Available Membership Models
Fixed Anniversary
Sets the renewal date to the 1st of the month of the anniversary of the member’s payment (or expiry date for renewing members), based on the number of years defined in “Span Years” (default is 1).
- New members renew from the 1st of the month following their join anniversary.
- If a renewing member’s membership expired less than 3 months ago, renewal is calculated from the original expiry date.
Anniversary
Renewals occur on the exact anniversary date of the original payment.
- Uses the payment date as the renewal reference point.
- The renewal period is defined by Span Years.
Annual
Members are renewed in a specified month each year.
- Renewal is aligned to the next occurrence of the selected renewal month.
Fixed Annual
All members renew on a fixed date each year (e.g. 1 January or 1 June), regardless of their join date.
- Useful for organisations that process renewals in bulk.
Issue / Fixed Issue
Designed specifically for magazine or issue-based subscriptions.
- Expiry is calculated using issue and folio numbering rules instead of dates.
Moving Annual
Adds the number of Span Years to the payment date (or expiry date for renewing members).
- Renewal moves forward based on each member’s individual start date.
Life
Membership does not expire.
- No renewal cycle is applied.
