If you are importing your organisation’s database into Vega for the first time, or uploading a new data file, e.g. new leads or new peer-to-peer donors, you will need to download a Data Import Template and populate it with your data.
This process can be a little tricky so you may wish to have someone who understands your database or who is technically profficient to complete this for you. However, you won't break anything by attempting the upload so please don't be scared off!
If you are starting a new import then you will need to download the spreadsheet template and populate it with your data.
The template files contains CSV, XLS and XLSX versions of the same file, so you can use your preferred spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel, Open Office or Libre Office.
There are 7 template types to import your complete database:
- Contacts
- Attributes
- Notes
- Payments
- Recurring Payments
- Relationships
- Telecoms
When you're ready, open your template file in the spreadsheet program and you will see it has been prepopulated with the columns required for your database in Vega.
You'll need to copy your data into the spreadsheet in the same format so that the data values are in the correct columns. Please ensure that all dates are formatted dd-mm-yyyy. Please ensure that the Join Date, Active Flag and OK to Contact columns are all filled out with TRUE or FALSE for active and inactive contacts accordingly.
When the templates are complete you are free to continue to the next step to Import Data
