The query tool is very useful to find specific contacts based on their attributes. To add attribute criteria, you will need to navigate to the Attributes tab, this will always be based on attributes with an Open Status:
- Select the Attribute Type from the dropdown
- If you would like to include all contacts who have any of the attributes within this type, click Add All Attributes as shown above. If one or multiple specific attributes are wanted then these can be selected. Both of these options will open the 'Attribute Filter' window for you to set the criteria.
Attribute Filter | Explanation |
Is this an inclusion or exclusion attribute? Attribute criteria can be added with Equal to find all contacts who have the particular attribute, with open status. Does Not Equal will find all contacts who do not have the particular attribute with open status. |
|
And- Contacts must have the attribute when this option is selected. If multiple attributes are added with this filter, results will show contacts who have ALL of the attributes. Or- Contacts will have this attribute or meet other criteria. If multiple attributes have this filter, results will show contacts who have ANY of the attributes. None- The query results will show all contacts who have these attributes if no other specific filter criteria is added. The And and Or filters can be used in the same query to set attribute criteria that can be met and include specific attribute criteria that must be met. The None filter can be used for all criteria. |
|
This allows you to set if you would like to see attributes with a Open or Closed Status. The Add More Values button below can be used if you would like to add criteria for both Open and Closed to see all contacts with this attribute, regardless of the status. |
|
This allows you to set if you would like the query to check for contacts with the attribute (Attribute) or contact payments with the attribute (Payment Attribute) |
|
Contact attributes can have a value, this is a free text field. Setting an attribute value here will only show results for contacts who meet the exact value. The attribute value is commonly used in Surveys for Yes/ No answers and can be used in the query here.
Attribute start dates are relevant in showing a timeline for the contact and changes or updates to their details. For example, this filter can be used to find all contacts who joined a particular programme between two dates. Both dates must be entered in this filter, a default start date can be used as 01/Jan/1900.
This option can be used instead of the set dates above if you would like the query to dynamically check for attribute start dates. When the query is generated it will use the current date and check for attributes in the chosen date range.
Add- This will add the chosen attribute criteria to your query and take you back to view your query. Add More Values- This will add the chosen attribute criteria and refresh the attribute pop-up for you to add another set of criteria for the same attribute. For example, this can be used if you would like to find two different date ranges or both statuses for the same attribute. Remove- When attribute criteria has already been added to your query this can be used to remove it. |
- When the attribute criteria have been added to your query it will show on the left-hand side, underneath the output columns. You can click to open the criteria from here and make any necessary changes or remove the filter
- Ensure you save your query before leaving the query tool
