Overview
The Form Options section lets you choose which fields and event-specific options are displayed on your Event Widget.
You can customise the form to collect the information you need from attendees while keeping the event registration or ticket purchase process as simple as possible.
Every Event Widget must include First Name and Last Name. All other fields are optional.
Before you begin: You must first create your event in Engage before configuring the Event Widget. For a Ticketed Event, create the event in Engage and select the option to create a widget. For an RSVP Event, select the option to create a widget when creating the event.
Open the Event Widget
- Go to Admin > Widget Configuration
- Select Event to view your existing Event Widgets.
Find the Event Widget you want to edit and select Edit.
Please note: If you are creating an Event Widget, you must first create the event in Engage. Refer to the relevant Event setup documentation for guidance on creating a Ticketed Event, RSVP or Raffle Event.
- Select Form Options from the menu on the left.
Contact Information
Use the contact information options to choose which details you want to collect from donors.
Contact information fields:
| Form Option | Explanation |
| Displays a drop-down containing all attributes under the Titles attribute type. | |
| Displays a text field for the attendee's home phone number. The number is saved to the contact's Home Phone field. | |
| Displays a text field for the attendee's mobile phone number. The number is saved to the contact's Mobile Phone field. | |
| Displays a text field for the attendee's email address. If you are sending an acknowledgement email, the Email field is required. | |
| Displays a calendar field for the attendee's date of birth. The date is saved to the contact's Birth Date field. | |
| Displays a text field and an option for the attendee to indicate that they are registering on behalf of an organisation. When selected, the organisation name is saved to the contact's Organisation field and used as the contact's Account Name. |
Making a Contact Field Mandatory
When you enable a contact information field, an additional Mandatory checkbox will appear. Select this checkbox to require the donor to provide the information before they can continue.
Mandatory fields are identified by a red asterisk (*) next to the field label on the donation form.
Address Information
There are two ways to collect address information on the Donation Widget.
Option 1: Show Address
Enable Show Address to display the standard address fields on the donation form.
Depending on your organisation's settings, donors can search for their address using Google or NZ Post. The available address information is then populated into the relevant fields.
Use this option when:
You want donors to be able to search for their address rather than selecting each part of their address individually.
Option 2: Address Drop-downs
Instead of using Show Address, you can collect address information using individual drop-down fields.
Use this option when:
You want donors to select their suburb, city, region, or country from predefined lists rather than using an address search.
| Form Option | Explanation |
|
Displays the address fields and allows donors to search for their address using Google or NZ Post, depending on your organisation's settings.
|
|
| Displays a drop-down list containing all attributes under the Suburbs attribute type | |
| Displays a drop-down list containing all attributes under the Cities attribute type. | |
| Displays a drop-down list containing all attributes under the Regions attribute type. | |
| Displays a drop-down list containing all available countries. |
Making an Address Field Mandatory
When you enable an address field, an additional Mandatory checkbox will appear. Select this checkbox to require the donor to provide the information before they can continue.
Mandatory fields are identified by a red asterisk (*) next to the field label on the donation form. The donor must complete the required information before proceeding.
Additional Information
These options allow you to collect additional information about the donor's donation.
| Form Option | Explanation |
|
Displays a text area where the attendee can enter a comment. The comment is saved as a note against the contact. |
|
| Displays the Event Widget across multiple pages. For Ticketed Events, the pages are Ticket Options, Attendee Information, and Payment Method. For RSVP Events, the ticket options page is not displayed. Attendees use the Next and Back buttons to move between the pages. This can simplify the appearance of the form by breaking the information into smaller sections. | |
|
This option works when Show Address is enabled. Instead of displaying all address fields, the widget initially displays an address search bar with a checkbox allowing the attendee to enter their address manually.
Using the address search option can reduce the number of fields displayed on the Event Widget and make the form simpler for attendees. |
Donation Options
The Event Widget also allows attendees to make an additional donation when registering for or purchasing tickets.
| Form Option | Explanation |
|
Displays the donation frequencies configured under the Frequencies attribute type. The frequencies are displayed on the widget in the same order as their attribute sequencing in Vega. |
|
|
This option must be enabled together with Show Frequency. It displays the available donation frequencies as buttons instead of a drop-down list. |
|
|
Displays an option above the donation amount buttons allowing the donor to select that they want to make a pledge rather than process a payment immediately. When the donor selects this option:
When Allow Pledge is enabled, additional options are available under Acknowledgements to select the email and attachment documents used for pledge acknowledgements. |
|
| Show Payment Options as Radio Buttons displays the available payment options as selectable buttons instead of a drop-down list. | |
|
Displays the GoDaddy verified site seal beneath the Submit button on the donation widget. |
|
| Make Attendee Email Mandatory requires an email address to be provided for each attendee when Multiple Bookings is enabled. |
Event Options
The following options are specific to Event Widgets.
| Form Option | Explanation |
| This setting allows you to collect information for each attendee when more than one ticket is purchased. When enabled, a new section is displayed for additional attendees. A First Name and Last Name are required for each ticket, and a contact is created for each attendee. When disabled, one contact can purchase multiple tickets under their name. | |
| The Allow On Behalf Bookings option allows someone to purchase tickets or register for an event on behalf of another person. | |
| Displays the available dietary options for the event. When selected, the dietary option is added to the contact as an attribute. | |
| Displays the event name and date at the top of the Event Widget. | |
|
Displays an option for the attendee to add the event to their calendar using Google, Yahoo!, iCal, or Outlook. The calendar entry is based on the event's start and end dates and times. |
